Kelowna Masjid Expansion

The Kelowna branch of the BCMA is an active organization for the service of the Muslim community, providing a prayer space, social programs, Daawah, and education to the benefit of children, youth and families. Today, we are embarking on a new project of the expansion of Kelowna Masjid, a place that has accommodated Kelowna’s Muslims since its founding and must now follow the demographic changing of the community.

Kelowna Masjid Activites

The Kelowna Masjid, also known as As-Salam Mosque, is one of the manifestations of BCMA activities in Kelowna. Despite its modest appearance, the mosque has served to gather the Muslim community of Kelowna every day for the five daily prayers, in the weekly feast of Muslims for Jumuah prayer, in the holiest nights of Ramadan for Taraweeh prayers, in the days of joy for Eid prayer and in the most difficult times for the prayers of Janazah (funerals).

Local children take Koran and Islamic studies courses under different programs like Sunday school. This allows them to spend their weekend in a suitable climate learning the instructions of our beautiful religion and thus developing their belonging and knowledge of Islam.

At BCMA, youth participate in Dawaah programs (Outreach) as they are eager to spread the message of Islam in the spirit of tolerance and respect for others and take Insha’Allah great reward from Allah.
